Not Applicable (if you want me to change this I can)

Marlene is pretty boy crazy so anyone even mildly attractive will catch her attention, however she does have a soft spot for the Marauders.
History:
Family History:
The McKinnons are considered one of the most powerful wizarding families of all time, though they are hardly pureblood. Once upon a time, their family was closely related to the Black's, sharing many members. But that changed many years ago when young Henry McKinnon married one Charlotte Williams. A muggle-born witch. A generation later and their grandson was marrying a half-blood.
Yet their status as a great wizarding family was never disputed-- except, perhaps by the supremest pure-blood families-- and they always managed to produce strong, loyal, intelligent and brave children. The children of the McKinnon household had always been raised with strong morals, and a strict no-nonsense rule when it came to school. It was hardly surprising that they have all been Ravenclaws or Gryffindors.
Marlene was no exception. She worked hard and made sure to get the best grades she possibly could and always stood up for the underdog. There were few people that she disliked and even fewer whom she would condemn.
Character History:
Marlene was raised in a strict ,but loving, household where she was always strongly encouraged to do her absolute best and to stand up for her beliefs. Her parents beliefs were not forced upon her, they merely guided her, instructing her in what was right and wrong and allowing her to form her own opinions and beliefs. This was the main factor in her intense need to always do the right thing, to help others and shy away from hurting people.
Since the time she was a little girl she has always been a bit of a spit-fire, out-spoken and quick-tempered when someone challenges her or what she believes is right. When she was younger she spent a lot of time with boys her age, forever trying to prove that girls could do anything they could do, despite popular opinion, and was determined to prove everyone wrong; one day, she assured, she would become Minister for Magic and prove them all wrong. However as she grew up and boys stopped having “cooties” and being “stupid butt-heads” she found herself becoming very boy-crazy and had her first boyfriend at the age of twelve. After that, many followed; some lasting only days or weeks, but the older she got the longer her relationships seemed to last. Still, never being too long as she is very fickle and usually gets distracted by a pretty face.
Personality & Defining Characteristics:
Physical Attributes:
Marlene, though a 'bookworm' is no where near unattractive. She is tall at five foot nine inches with long, shapely legs and curves in all the right places -a fact she is not shy to flaunt. Her hair is a perfect golden blonde that she usually styles pleasant curls around her shoulders and her eyes are a brilliant, clear blue. She is not perfect however, and has to work hard at her appearance, sometimes spending hours in front of a mirror before she will leave her room just to make sure she's perfect enough. Her great figure comes from a lot of hard work and a 'healthy' diet and exercise.

Personality:
Marlene is like fire; warm and inviting, friendly and protective but she's also got a bite to her and while she pretends to be very open and has many friends (many boyfriends too) very few get to know the real Marlene. For it is much easier to hide away ones insecurities and imperfections then to flaunt them and by telling one, you might as well tell all.
However she is a genuine, loyal friend and keeps every secret ever told her locked up tight and is always the first to offer a shoulder to cry on or a warm, comforting hug. Marlene will always -without question- stand up for someone if they are being bullied or picked on, unless they can handle themselves.
While she is very boy crazy -not to mention fickle- and has a new boyfriend at least once a week, she also has a great deal of respect for herself -on some levels- and refuses to have sex until she falls in love.
She is a romantic, and is always searching for that one guy. Marlene is also incredibly vain and has, many times, gone without eating to make sure her image remains as perfect as possible.
Likes:
Boys, boys, boys. Romance novels, flirting, harmless gossip, and just having a good laugh.
Dislikes:
Discrimination, bullies, reptiles, insects
Aspirations:
To make a difference, to help as many people as she can.
Fears:
Getting her heart broken, being alone.
Best Memory:
When she was thirteen and was home for the summer, her mother took her on a shopping trip; they talked about boys, laugh, shopped, and ate all of the junk food they weren't supposed to. It is her favorite memory of her mother, a woman who otherwise was too busy fighting for woman’s rights or scolding her for another misdeed. It was a perfect day, sunny and warm, they had gone home late that night and put on a fashion show for the rest of the family, giggling and laughing the whole time. Marlene smiled from the moment she woke up that morning and was sure that she was even smiling in her sleep when her parents had finally convinced her to go to bed.
Worst Memory:
She was eight years old, and had been “exploring” in the forest outside her family’s estate with a few “friends” who decided that they wanted to play a game. This game involved ganging up on Marlene -who they decided was no longer good enough to be their friend- and tying her to a tree and leaving here there. She remembered struggling and crying and screaming for hours, watching the sun set, fearing the “monsters” and wild animals that she was sure were watching her from the shadows. It was late that night when she was finally found. She was inconsolable for days, refusing to go anywhere but her room, except to use the bathroom.
Education
Strengths:
Anything book-related is Marlene's specialty, however she excels in Potions and Ancient Runes. Her forte is anything that takes time, that she can think about and practice and practice until she is sure she is absolutely perfect. She is a Ravenclaw and therefore is intelligent by default and her parents never accept anything less then perfection so she spends a lot of time making sure she is and holds a status as one of the smartest witches in her year.
Weaknesses:
Classes such as Defense against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration are not her strong suit and she needs to work on these classes more then the others because of her inability to think on her feet. She is not a great dueler unless she is using spells she had had a lot of practice perfecting. Charms is another class she does not do great in. Marlene likes to take her time and practice first.
Patronus:
A dove.
Extra's:
Prefect for Ravenclaw
Behind the Scenes
Name:
Sam
Gender:
Female
Years of Roleplaying:
6? Or thereabouts.
Written Portion
“Oh, look!”
I don't even glance up when she speaks, I know what -or rather who- she's pointing at. “They're here.” I almost scoff at the girlish sigh that leaves her but I refrain. After all, I have been known to have done my own gushing about those four.
Instead, I continue to concentrate on the Transfiguration essay I am writing rather then eat breakfast. The essay isn't due till the end of the week but already I have finished it twice.
I will re-write about ten times, and edit it about fifty before I will be happy with it.
“Marls!”
I can feel myself wince at the hated nickname but I look up anyway, she is crushing my arm in her excitement and I have little choice. As soon as I raise my eyes I know instantly -not that I was ever in doubt- what she's talking about and I almost have to catch myself from sighing dreamily. They would, without contest, most assuredly win the prize for the most attractive boys in this school; even little awkward Peter.
“They're coming towards us!” she hisses in my ear in what I assume is meant to be a quite whisper, but I can tell from the smirks on the faces of James Potter and Sirius Black that they've heard what she said. She never had been good at lowering her voice.
I turn to the other girl with a look of annoyance “Hush.” I order, making sure to keep my voice kind as she is a nice girl and I do not want to hurt her feelings. My lips are stretching into their normal, flirty smile and I know at any minute my eyelashes will flutter.
Black winks and I reply by wiggling my fingers at him restraining a giggle as my heart flutters just a little. I know better then to think he would want anything with me except maybe a quick shag, and were I any other girl he would have gotten that long ago. But, I am not any other girl and I can respect myself enough not to give it away without falling in love.
Maybe it's childish or naïve to believe that everyone has a soul mate, that one true love. Maybe it is foolish of me to continue looking for it, or for me to keep picking up new boys and dropping them so soon after but regardless I still do it and will continue to do so until I find him...whoever he is.
Even if it becomes harder and harder to keep my heart from hurting every time I realize that the boy I thought just last would be him is definitely not.
Too mean,
Too thin,
Too fat,
Too sweet,
Not enough. Never enough.
And that kills me.
Maybe it is because I spend so much time, trying to be perfect in every way, or maybe it is because I have been taught to expect nothing less then perfection...or to strive for nothing less. I don't know. But I do know I will never give up.
It's just not in me to give up.
So as Black approaches me I put on my prettiest smile and flutter my lashes at him, laughing a little as if what he has said amuses me, pretending for a moment that I am happy. I flirt and I laugh but we both know this is going nowhere and it doesn't take long for him to bore of me and turn to the girl at my side who just about swoons right here in the Great Hall.
It takes every amount of willpower I have to keep my face friendly and warm and not roll my eyes.
