History:
Family History:
To be an Evans in the society of Derbyshire was to be part of a well known, middle-class family. They were regarded as, what some may class, the ideal family. The family everyone wanted to be a part of. So when Edward Evans married Florence, many hearts were broken. The couple seemed flawless. With the strong, masculine husband that provided for the family and the wife than doted upon him, it seemed as though things could not get any better in the Evans household. Then Lawrence arrived in 1928.
Edward and Florence could not have been happier. Florence was able to once again make society jealous by her seemingly flawless transition to motherhood. Edward on the other hand, finally had an heir to the Evans name. As Lawrence grew however, the family picture seemed to crack as the strain of childcare affected the seemingly impermeable marriage. But, all was seen to be put back on track once again by the arrival of Robert. Edward had a spare and he didn’t have to worry about the heritage/ Florence didn’t have to worry because from the word ‘go’ Lawrence helped out with the raiseing of Robert.
Lawrence and Robert scaled the Derbyshire countryside throughout their childhood. In Lily’s life this would be the thing that Lawrence swore made them as close as two brothers could be. This could also be a reason why Robert took the separation so hard which, at the age of 7, Edward placed Lawrence on the train so that he may attend private schooling in London.
It was not until Lawrence was 18 that he met Carolyn. He was taking party in the yearly family holiday in the Lake District where they were celebrating Lawrence’s acceptance into university. Though he only spent 1 month in Carolyn’s company, Lawrence quickly became head over heels with this gorgeous girl. Why? Well, he himself did not know, but he was pretty sure her cascading red hair had something to do with it.
Carolyn Evans (Nee. McDonald) has lived in the Lake District all her life. So when this charming, city boy showed interest in her, Carolyn couldn’t quite believe it. Even though she could not believe her luck, she did not throw herself at Lawrence keeping herself calm and resigned whenever they happened to speak to meet. However, when Lawrence proposed to her at a family gathering, there was no way she was going to refuse him.
Once married Lawrence and Carolyn moved to Cokeworth, simply because it was where Lawrence had managed to secure employment. They settled in to married life with ease and when Petunia arrived in 1958 they didn’t think their life could get anymore magical, that was, until Lily arrived.
Character History:
Lily had never thought that there was something magical within her life. Ever. Yes, there had been incidents where things had happened without rational explanation, but Lily had never thought it was her that had caused them! That was until Severus Snape entered her life.
Snape; the boy who turned her whole life upside down. Once he revealed to her the world of magic, Lily was hooked. The more Lily discovered, the more she wanted to know. The more she wanted to know, the more Lily and Snape talked. Somewhere along the line, a friendship between them was formed and Lily could not have been more grateful. All the stories Severus told her about what she will be able to do, well, they amazed her. Of course, she could not keep them to herself and every time she learnt something knew Lily rushed back home to her sister to tell her everything simply because, she never kept anything from her sister.
It was Snape who directed Lily to Diagon Alley once Lily had received her letter. Her parents were thrilled and no expense was spared. They wanted Lily to have the best start possible at Hogwarts. After buying an Owl and all of her books and robes, she could not wait to return home and show her sister everything, for her to share in the excitement. Lily had found it strange that Petunia had refused to come with them, has risked punishment from their parents purely because she could not be bothered to go to London, but, she was becoming a teenager and that what her parents blamed it on when she has asked them.
But, when Lily range upstairs to show Petunia she didn’t anticipate the reaction she got. Petunia screamed at Lily to get out of her face and that she didn’t want to be associated with her because she was a ‘freak’. As she slammed her door in Lily’s face tears had already started to form and she ran downstairs, threw open the door, and ran.
Snape found her and she cried telling him what had happened and how she didn’t understand why she hated her all of a sudden. After being reassured that they would soon be at Hogwarts away from this, Lily smiled and they began talking about going to school. She could not wait.
When it came for Lily to be sorted, it took quite a long time, but when the hat finally shouted Gryffindor, excitement bubbled. Joining her new housemates she watched and waited to see where Severus would be placed. A feeling of fear rose as she heard the hat shout Slytherin and she realised they had been separated, but it didn’t take Lily long to realise she would be fine. It was because of Snape that she felt she was able to integrate into the wizarding society easier than most Muggle Borns.
Even now, after everything Snape and Lily have been through, she would still thank him for that ability. She believes it is this that has shaped her time at Hogwarts, and she cannot wait to see where it will lead her.
Personality & Defining Characteristics:
Physical Attributes:
Lily, unfortunately she feels did not inherit her father’s gene of height and currently stands at 5 foot 4 inches. Though from afar she looks slim, people that spend enough time with her tend to notice that she has the potential for curves to develop. In her face, Lily takes after her mother in many ways. Be it through her cascading dark red hair, her almond shaped green eyes, or her very pale skin. Because of her skin, Lily cannot be in the sun for long but as she loves being outside, she can often be found on sunny days somewhere on the Hogwarts grounds under a tree. On school days, Lily will either tie her hair up or let it be, but on the weekends, her hair will be straight, curly, wavy, up or down. Lily will often wear make up just to feel a little bit more confident, but, on weekdays, Lily’s make up is very subtle. On the weekends however she shows off her talents with a bit of flair. Well, who says a bookworm can’t have a few tricks up her sleeve?
Kirsten Dunst
Personality:
Lily personality is full of contradictions. Those who do not know her would say that she is a shining example of the stereotype that is a bookworm. They would say that Lily Evans is a quiet girl who would not hurt a fly. She always has her head stuck in a book and this reading is justified when she is placed within the classroom setting as she is normally the one to go to is the answer is not known. Yet, she doesn’t like to show off how smart she is. Yes, she’ll answer questions but she is not the type to wave her hand about in the air expecting the teacher to pick her.
Well, they would be half right.
Lily is a bookworm, she won’t deny that. And yes, she would never hurt a fly, unless provoked (or they’re James Potter, but even then, she wouldn’t cause him too much pain…) No, she doesn’t always have her head stuck in a book, how could she and be sociable at the same time, it isn’t possible. Yes, she is smart and very proud of that fact and yes, she doesn’t like to show off. Why would she? It makes for a very unbecoming person in her eyes. But of there is one thing Lily Evans isn’t, it’s quiet
Any person who has gotten to know Lily would realise that it takes a lot to make her quiet and Lily is sure they often wish for her to be. As a friend, Lily is very blunt. If someone plans to do something that she does not feel is wise Lily will call them on it, (the Marauders are a prime example of this but she will always let them think it through and decide what they wish to do. She will give her opinion yes, but Lily never tries to force it upon anyone.
This is the kind of girl that can hold a grudge. While Lily will forgive anyone numerous times for silly things, (such as revealing certain secrets or arguments) hurt her, or her own or loose her trust and you have lost her friendship forever. Lily is always sarcastic and often teases people (mainly the Marauders) yet she would never wish to offend anyone. All in all Lily is not what she seems, but then, is anyone?
Likes:
Magic, Reading, Learning, Laughing, Talking, The Sun, The Moon, Charms, Potions, The Beach, Water, Swimming, Trees, Flowers, Cats, David Bowie, Smiling, Work, Challenges, Movies, Books, Wands, Creatures, Chocolate.
Dislikes:
Lies, Betrayl, Rats, Pumpkin Juice, Marauders Plans, Dentention (Monitoring it, not serving it), Seagulls, Being Wet, Being Cold, Bushes, The Forbidden Forest, Neurotic Breakdowns, Annoyance, Being weak, Not knowing what to do.
Aspirations:
Lily is determined to work in the Ministry of Magic when she's older just so she can make sure that she will be forever surround by magic. Which department she wants to be in however, she isn't so sure.
Fears:
Losing her magical ability, Failure.
Best Memory:
Lily’s best memory would be the looks on her parent’s faces when they found out she was a witch. The way her mother pulled her into a huge embrace and kissed the top of her head and the smile on her fathers face are pictures she often replays when she’s feeling down or a little lost. Her father was (and still is) her biggest fan when she explained that magic really did exist and that the letter they had received meant that she was going to be taught how to properly use this talent of hers as it was her father that constantly encouraged the girls to achieve and on this day Lily felt she couldn’t have achieved any higher in his eyes.
Worst Memory:
Mudblood. What a word to hear! To make you feel as though you do not deserve you’re magical ability just because you’re parents aren’t wizards! There is no reason behind it. Lily was used to some people’s close minded ignorance, but not when it came from someone she thought was her best friend. This is Lily’s worst memory, the day when Severus Snape branded her a ‘Mudblood’. All she was trying to do was defend her then best friend against the idiot that was James Potter, but instead he turns around and offends her. They say that words shouldn’t hurt, but that caught her completely of guard and Lily had to try really hard to stop herself from breaking down and crying in front of everyone. Even today, Lily cannot think about this incident without tears springing to her eyes.
Education
Strengths:
With Lily’s obvious intellect, it’s hard to pick just one strength when it comes to education. If you were to ask any teacher they would probably have an whole argument ready to prove that Lily was the best at their subject. Yet, it cannot be denied that Lily is very gifted when it comes to charm work. Her perfectionism means she is constantly practicing her wand work, which only strengthens her natural ability. Her perfectionism always makes her particularly gifted at potions. Another strength of Lily’s was her ability to be liked by the teachers, it helps when she occasionally forgets a piece of homework because they trust her to get it done for the next day.
Weaknesses:
Lily is a complete perfectionist. Everything has to be done to a certain standard and if it isn’t she has, what some may call, a bit of a neurotic breakdown. This, of course, means she spends a bit too much time on her schoolwork and ends up missing parts of social meet ups or gatherings. Though her friends implore her to leave the work and come back later, Lily cannot. This is because she knows that she will not be able to enjoy herself until the task is complete.
Patronus:
Lily has been trying to produce a Copreal Patronus for a while now after hearing about them in Defence Against the Dark Arts. However, there has not been a solid shape form yet. All Lily knows so far is that it is an animal with four legs.

No. Never again.
Every summer it’s the same; my parents pick me up from the platform, we hug and exchange the usual – ‘How was the last term?’ ‘The journey home?’ ‘How are your friends?’ – and then they take me home.
And that is where everything falls apart.
That first night is always the hardest. My parents want to hear about everything I’ve been learning. What I found easy, what I found hard, what I will be taking next year, absolutely everything and, of course, I tell them. They’re my parents, why shouldn’t I?
And still, Petunia has not uttered one word to me! No ‘Hey Lils!’ or ‘How’s school going?’ Nothing! It is as though I’m not sitting there. As if it was just another day of term and my seat is vacant. She’ll talk to my mother. She’ll even make comments to my father, but she never, ever speaks about magic or anyone she feels is associated with magic and of course, that means me.
You wouldn’t believe we used to be best friends. I knew EVERYTHING about my sister ands she me. She shared all the experiences she had and helped me when I got stuck with life because, lets face it, she had already been through it. Now? Now she will not be in the same room as me unless forced. Won’t look at me unless my parents tell her she should…
No, I must not cry, she is not worth my tears. Not again anyway.
I still can not believe what she did! Yet I can still hear here wailing about how it isn’t fair my fathers forbid her to go on her date with Vernon tonight. I think Daddy saved her from a nightmare of a time if I’m being honest. For god’s sake! Will she ever shut up?
I came home tonight, after meeting the girls at the park to find a trail of paper leading to my room. Confused, yet curious I follow it and I cannot believe my eyes. Eveything has been shredded! All my books, my parchment, my quills, lying destroyed within my room.
I went crazy. I screamed, oh God did I scream and I hit her. I actually hit my own sister. That was something I never thought I would do, ever, in my life! No matter how much she annoyed me. She doesn’t seem to understand that just because she’s jealous it doesn’t give her the right to enter my room and destroy everything our parents bought.
If you think you will have any relationship with me from now on, Petunia, you have got another thing coming.
